Approve Contract for 2013 Park Restroom Cleaning Consent Business 5• C. 4• SI IAKOI'EE TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Mike Hullander, Public Works Superintendent DATE: 03/19/2013 SUBJECT: Approve Contract for 2013 Park Restroom Cleaning (C & E) Action Sought Motion to approve and authorize the appropriate city officials to enter into a Cleaning Contract with Plymouth Ridge, Inc. d/b /a Coverall Cleaning Concepts until February 28, 2014 for seasonal park restroom cleaning. Background Staff has recieved two proposals for the seasonal restroom cleaning beginning in April 2013 and ending February 28, 2014. Staff has contracted with Coverall Cleaning Concepts since 2003 and recieved their 2013 proposal for the price of $17,076.00. Staff also recieved a proposal from Multi- Services Inc., the city's current cleaning company for various public buildings. The proposal from Multi - Services Inc. was for $31,628.00. Staff is recommending approving the contract with Coverall Cleaning Concepts. Contracting this service is more cost effective than using in -house full -time and seasonal staff where our cost would exceed the top proposal from Mult- Services Inc., we estimate in -house service would exceed $40,000.00. In the 2013 Park Maintenance Budget, $20,000.00 was allocated for this service. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the contract. Budget Impact The funds were included in the 2013 Park Maintenance Budget. Relationship to Vision C. Maintain the City's strong financial health. E. Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of welltrained caring and professional employees. Requested Action Motion to approve and authorize the appropriate city officials to enter into a Cleaning Contract with Plymouth Ridge, Inc. d/b /a Coverall Cleaning Concepts until February 28, 2014 for seasonal park restroom cleaning.
