Action Sought
The City Council is asked to declare group cycling bikes as surplus property.
lntoduction
The Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department is seeking council approval to declare 10 Schwinn group cycling
bikes as surplus property with credit from the sales going toward fitness equipment repair and ongoing fitness
equipment maintenance at the Shakopee Community Center.
Background and Discussion
The Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department has utilized the Schwinn group cycling bikes at the Shakopee
Community Center as part of group fitness cycling classes which are held on a daily basis.
The Community Center has obtained new, upgraded LeMond group cycling bikes with feedback consoles for the
cycling program. We do not have the space or need for the older 10 Schwinn bikes at the Community Center
We have been quoted a value of $75 for the existing Schwinn bikes and would like to sell them to the general
public for that cost with these funds being used for maintenance and upkeep on existing fitness equipment at the
Community Center.
Visioning Relationship
B. Positively manage the challenges and opportunities presented by growth, development and change
C. Maintain the City's strong financial health
Action Requested
If Council concurs, approve to declare the ten Schwinn group cycling bikes as surplus and allow them to be sold to
the general public.
