SHAKOPEE
TO: Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Kris Wilson, Asst City Administrator
DATE: 02/05/2013
SUBJECT: Amendment to 2013 Non -Union Pay Plan - Res. No. 7271 (F)
Action Sought
The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7271, a Resolution Amending the 2013 Non -Union Pay Plan for
Employees of the City of Shakopee, and move its adoption.
Background
In recent weeks the Council has approved job descriptions for several new positions that are included in the City's
2013 operating budget. Each of those job descriptions have referenced the pay grade the position is to be assigned
to. However, to formally authorize payment to the individuals that are ultimately hired to fill these positions, they
need to be formally added to the City's non -union pay plan.
The positions being added are as follows:
Grade 6 -- Natural Resources Technician
Grade 6 -- Human Resources Specialist
Grade 9 -- Economic Development Coordinator
Additionally, as noted when staff sought authorization to advertise for a current opening in the Public Works
Department, we are interested in transitioning from the job title of Secretary to Administrative Assistant. This title
change is noted in Grade 4, which is the current pay grade for the position of Secretary.
Budget Impact
This specific action has no budgetary impact as the job descriptions and pay grades have already been approved by
Council through previous actions.
Relationship to Vision
This is a housekeeping item.
