Board of Adjustment and Appeals
Meeting Minutes- March 5, 2026
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Present:
Commissioners Robbins, Weiler, Sandu, Reding, Cherus, Vander Veen,
Absent: Forsythe
3. Oath of Office
Newly appointed commissioners Cherus and Vander Veen recited the Oath of Office and were
welcomed to the Board.
4. Approval of Agenda
Motion to approve the agenda as presented.
• Motion: Commissioner Robbins
• Second: Commissioner Weiler
• Vote: Approved unanimously
5. Recognition of Interested Citizens
No members of the public came forward to speak on items not on the agenda.
6. General Business
A. Election of Officers
• Chair:
o Nominee: Commissioner Reding
o Approved by voice vote
• Vice Chair:
o Nominee: Commissioner Sandu
o Approved by voice vote
• Second Vice Chair:
o Nominee: Commissioner Weiler
o Approved by voice vote
Chair duties were assumed by Commissioner Reding.
B. Public Hearing—Conditional Use Permit Amendment
Project: Southwest Metro Intermediate School District No. 288
Location: 4601 Dean Lakes Boulevard
Request Summary:
Amendment to an existing Conditional Use Permit to allow:
• Construction of a—5,000 sq. ft. fabrication lab/storm shelter
• Addition of a greenhouse
• Interior remodeling for technical education programming
Key Discussion Points:
• Facility serves multiple districts and programs (including adult learning and technical
education)
• Minimal anticipated increase in traffic or parking demand
• Estimated addition of—20-30 students (staggered schedules)
Public Hearing:
• Opened and closed with no public comment
C. Action on CUP Amendment
Motion: Approve CUP Amendment (PC 2026-008) with staff conditions
• Motion: Commissioner Robbins
• Second: Commissioner Cherus
• Approved by roll call vote.
Result: Motion carried 6-0
7. Other Business
• Staff reported that previously revoked CUPs have been appealed and are tentatively
scheduled for City Council review.
• One related application may return to the Board in April.
8. Adjournment
Motion to adjourn at 7:19 PM to April 9, 2026.
