No. 6070 CITY OF SHAKOPEE !SP.~, Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg V oxland, Finance Director RE: Lions Club Donation DATE: June 8, 2004 Introduction and Background The City has received a check from the Lions Club with the intention that the funds be used for Lions Park. The check will be deposited to the City's account for the Escrow Fund. Council controls the use of donated gambling proceeds and so far has directed the funds to where the donator requested. Action Offer Resolution No. 6070, A Resolution of the City of Shako pee, Minnesota, Accepting a $10,000 Donation from the Shakopee Lions Club, and move its adoption. GV/js I:J eanettelLionsDonation RESOLUTION NO. 6070 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ACCEPTING A $10,000 DONATION FROM THE SHAKOPEE LIONS CLUB WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the City; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that cash donations of over $1,000 shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds maj ority of the Council for acceptance; and WHEREAS, the Shakopee Lions Club has generously donated $10,000 which will be used to continue making improvements to Lions Park; and WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee acknowledges and appreciates the cooperation in improving this park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the cash donation of $ 10,000 from theShakopeeLions Club is gratefully accepted; and FURTHER, the City staffis directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
