;s: p. 3,
CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum CONSENT
TO: Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Judith S. Cox, City Clerk
SUBJECT: Appointment to Fill Vacancy on the Environmental Advisory Committee
DATE: July 14, 2004
INTRODUCTION:
City Council is asked to appoint Mr. Brian Spott to the Environmental Advisory
Committee (EAC) to fill a vacancy.
BACKGROUND:
There still remains a vacant position on the Environmental Advisory Committee. When
the City advertised to fill expiring terms this past winter, there were insufficient
applicants to fill one of the three-year terms on the EAC. Mr. Spott later applied to fill a
vacancy on the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission when a vacancy was created
because one of the members on SPUC moved out of town. Although Mr. Spott was not
appointed to fill the vacancy on SPUC, he has expressed an interest in serving on the
EAC.
Mr. Spott was interviewed by the interview panel for the SPUC vacancy. Councilors
Menden and Helkamp are recommending the appointment of Mr. Spott. Mr. Charlie
Kubler,Vice Chair and Chair of the EAC, has spoken with Mr. Spott on two occasions
and also recommends that Mr. Spott be appointed to fill the vacancy on the EAC.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Offer Resolution No.6089, A Resolution Appointing Brian Spott to the Environmental
Advisory Committee, and move its adoption.
