SUBJECT: Reliant Energy/Minnegasco Donation
DATE: November 10,2004
INTRODUCTION:
At its meeting of November 16th, the Council will be asked to accept a $2500 donation
from Reliant Energy/Minnegasco.
BACKGROUND:
Mark Spanton, Senior Sales Associate from Reliant Energy/Minnegasco, will be in
attendance at the City Council meeting Tuesday night to make a presentation to the City
Fire Department. Reliant Energy/Minnegasco has donated $2500 for air monitoring
equipment.
The City very much appreciates the generosity of Reliant Energy/Minnegasco.
RECOMMENDATION:
In order to comply with policy, the Council should pass a resolution accepting the
donation.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the following resolution:

RESOLUTION NO. 6151
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA,
ACCEPTING A $2,500 DONATION FROM RELIANT/MINNEGASCO
TO THE SHAKOPEE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No.
5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts. and donations by the
City; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that cash donations of over $1,000
shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds
majority of the Council for acceptance; and
WHEREAS, the ReliantlMinnegasco has generously donated $2,500, which will
be used by the Shakopee Fire Department for air monitoring equipment; and
WHEREAS, such a donation will enhance the safety and overall quality oflife in
Shakopee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the cash donations of$2,500 from
ReliantIMinnegasco be gratefully accepted; and
FURTHER, that City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging
receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shako pee,
Minnesota, held this 1 ih day of November, 2004.
