SUBJECT: Resolution of Appreciation - Gerald M. Poole
DATE: December 29, 2004
INTRODUCTION:
Council is asked to consider Resolution #6168, a Resolution of Appreciation to Deputy
Chief Gerald M. Poole.
BACKGROUND:
Deputy Chief Poole began his employment with the City of Shakopee on December 17,
1975, as a police officer. Deputy Chief Poole has served the City well over the years and
will be truly missed for his experience, leadership and knowledge of the City. Deputy
Chief Poole resigned effective January 4,2005.
Deputy Chief Poole will not be in attendance at the Council meeting and the
Resolution will be presented to him at a later date.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If the Council concurs, it should offer Resolution No. 6168, a Resolution
of Appreciation to Deputy Chief Gerald M. Poole, and move its adoption.

A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO GERALD M. POOLE
WHEREAS, Gerald Poole began his honorable police career with; the
,pty of Shako pee on December 17, 1975, as a Patrol Officer, promoted to
"Sergeant in 1988 and appointed to Deputy Chief of Police in 1992; and. --,
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Poole has enthusiastically and conscientious
pelformed his duties and demonstrated quality leadership to our rapidiy:__
gr~~ng community; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Poole has made a significant impact o*_our
community as a long tenn board member of the Southern V alley Alli~ce for
Battered Women, and by taking a leadership role in writing grants to cr~ate our
COII)l11unity Service Officer a11d School Resource Officer programs ancfto
obtain :fl.Iflds to improve police technology; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Poole was also the recipient of an ~Waid of
Meritorious Service for the excellent job he did in managing the pl~g-
_process and overseeing the construction of Shako pee's new police facilitY
which was occupied in November of2003; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Gerald Poole has resigned his position \."ith
the City of Shako pee effective January 4,2005.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Shakopee CitY:
Council on behalf of the residents of Shakopee and on behalf ofthe Shakopee
Police Department and City staff, that the Shakopee City Council does':hereby
extend to Gerald Poole the deep appreciation of the City for his tWenW-nine
years of professional and dedicated service to our community. -,
Adopted in Regular Session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee~
