HUgj1es}fIO' SUBJECT: Dakota County Receiving Center Contract Addendum DATE: January 24, 2005 INTRODUCTION: The Police Department is requesting approval to continue its contractual agreement with the Dakota County Receiving Center for detoxification services. BACKGROUND: In July of 2004 the City of Shakopee entered into a contractual arrangement with the Dakota County Receiving Center. This arrangement provided the police department with detoxification services, including transportation to the Hastings facility. This agreement ended on December 31, 2004. As part of the continuation of these services the police department has received a transportation addendum to the original agreement. There has been no change in the rate for transportation services and no rate increase for detoxification services is cited in these documents. At the time of the original agreement, and presently, no other feasible options for detoxification services exist. BUDGET IMP ACT The rate for transportation services from the July, 2004 agreement was $60. The transportation addendum will provide transportation services until December 31, 2005, without a rate increase. The police department budget includes monies for detoxification servIces. ALTERNATIVES 1. Authorize appropriate City staff to authorize the transportation addendum to the July, 2004 detoxification contract with the Dakota County Receiving Center. 2. Reject the police department's request to authorize the transportation addendum to the July, 2004 detoxification contract with the Dakota County Receiving Center. 3. Table the request for more discussion. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the police department's request to authorize the transportation addendum to the July, 2004 detoxification contract with the Dakota County Receiving Center. ACTION REQUESTED: If council concurs, they should by motion authorize, appropriate city staff to authorize the transportation addendum to the July, 2004 detoxification contract with the Dakota County Receiving Center. The present Agreement is from July 6, 2004 to December 31, 2004. This Addendum will serve to continue this Agreement from January 1, 2005 to December 31,2005. The rate of $60 will remain the same throughout 2005.
