SUBJECT: Surplus Property

INTRODUCTION:
Council is asked to declare a certain item held by the Police Department as surplus
property.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department cun-ently is in possession of a 1997 Chevrolet S 1 0 pickup, VIN #
IGCCS19X3V8196313. This pickup was seized for DWI forfeiture on July 25th, 2004.
All forfeiture proceedings have been completed and the City of Shakopee is cun-ently the
titleholder.
The vehicle is not suitable for departmental use and is going to be placed into an auction.
Per MN State Statute 70% of the proceeds from the auction will go towards the
departments DWI fund with the other 30% going to the County Attorneys office.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Council declare the Chevrolet S 1 0 pickup held by the Police
Department as surplus propeliy for the purpose of proper disposal/auction ofthe vehicle.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If the Council concurs, it, should, by motion, declare these items surplus property and
authorize staff to auction the vehicle.
