CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Special Meeting Thursday, March 10th - 6:00 PM
DATE: March 1, 2005
INTRODUCTION:
The Council is asked to adjourn this evening's meeting to Thursday, March 10th, at 6:00
PM at the Community Center.
BACKGROUND:
On February 22nd, Mark Themig presented information relating to the Shutrop park
property purchase, and the concurrent sale to Tollefson Development of a portion of that.
Changes have continued to be negotiated, and Council was advised that it may be
necessary to have a special meeting prior to the closing with the Shutrops' on March 11 tho
On March 10th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, the hearing Steering Committee of the Shakopee
Visioning Initiative is hosting a Community Conversation at the Community Center. At
that time, there will be opportunities to update interested parties, including the City
Council, on what has transpired to date. They would also appreciate assistance from the
Council in engaging Shakopee residents as to their views on the future of the City.
Therefore, so that we may allow 30 minutes to complete the Shutrop discussion, I am
recommending that the Council adjourn this evening's meeting to 6:00 PM Thursday,
March lOth at the Community Center Rotary Room. Following adjournment of that
meeting, the City Council could choose to stay for the Community Conversation at 7:00,
or leave.
ACTION REQUIRED:
Ifthe Council concurs, it should adjourn to a special meeting at 6:00 PM, Thursday,
March 10,2005 at the Community Center.
