Mr.Reynolds stated that all of the furniture and equipment in the current City Hall has been reviewed
and many items will be reused in the new City Hall to reduce costs.
Mayor Mars asked about the monument sign that will be installed.He stated that he would like to be
sure it is scaled properly for the building size.Mr.Schwartzman described plans for the sign.
Cncl.Whiting asked if there would be a potential for expansion on the site.Mr.Reynolds answered
that a possible expansion was designed into the elements of the new building,and has also been a
part of the discussions.
Discussion:
Cncl.Lehman stated that he wants to keep costs down as much as possible.In his opinion,housing
employees in one central location will save tax dollars as well as offer benefits to the general public.
Mayor Mars asked how much the building plans were downsized.Mr.Schwartzman answered 1800
square feet.
Moved by Councilmember Jay Whiting,Seconded by Councilmember Matt Lehman to approve Plans
and Specifications and Ordering Advertisement for Bids for the Shakopee City Hall Project Fund
4074,and move its adoption.
Vote: 4- 1
Opposed: Councilmember Kathi Mocol
10. Liaison&Administrator Reports
Mr.Reynolds presented his City Administrator report to the Council.
The Council members presented their Liaison reports.
11. Other Business
Cncl.Lehman requested that staff bring a policy on the necessity of employee showers in the new
City Hall building.Mr.Reynolds agreed to bring a policy back for review.
12. Adjourn to April 19,2016 at 7:00 p.m.
Moved by Councilmember Kathi Mocol, Seconded by Councilmember Mike Luce to adjourn.
