Is. E, 3__
CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Television Production Specialist Resignation
DATE: May 11, 2005
INTRODUCTION:
The Council is asked to accept the resignation of Mike Johnson as Television Production
Specialist, effectiveMay 17, 2005.
BACKGROUND:
Elsewhere on the City Council agenda is action regarding a recommendation from the
Telecommunications Advisory Commission in which the TAC recommends restructuring
of the full time telecommunications position to a Telecommunications Coordinator. This
would eliminate the Television Production Specialist position.
Rather than wait for the restructuring to take place, Television Production Specialist
Mike Johnson negotiated a resignation with me, in which he would receive paid leave
from May 10th - May 17th; be eligible for severance of unpaid vacation, and
unemployment compensation in accordance with State law.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the resignation of Mike Johnson be accepted effective May 17th, his
unused accrued vacation, and that the five (and a fraction) days of paid leave be granted
as consideration of the elimination of his position due to restructuring.
ACTION REQUIRED:
If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, accept the resignation of Mike Johnson as
Television Production Specialist, effective May 17, 2005, and grant paid leave and
unused accrued vacation as recommended.
