SUBJECT: Workers' Compensation Coverage for Elected Officials

ACTION SOUGHT
The City Council is asked to consider Resolution Number 7249, A Resolution Providing
Worker's Compensation Coverage For Shakopee City Council Elected Officials through League
of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT)
BACKGROUND
Upon review of the City's workers' compensation coverage and Minnesota State Statute
176.011, subd.9, clause 6 — the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Act, extension of coverage
should include elected officials. This coverage is provided through LMCIT, and will become
effective 01/01/2013 upon the overall renewal. The LMCIT requires council action and approval
of the attached resolution for coverage.
BUDGET IMPACT
The addition cost is estimated to be $90.00 to the overall renewal.

If Council approves, offer Resolution No. 7249, A Resolution Proving Workers' Compensation
Coverage For Shakopee City Council Elected Officials and move its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 7249
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING WORKERS' COMPENSATION COVERAGE FOR THE
SHAKOPEE CITY COUNCIL ELECTED OFFICIALS
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 176.011, subd.9, clause 6 — the Minnesota
Workers' Compensation Act — members of the following City Council are included in the City's
workers' compensation coverage:
Elected City Officials — Mayor and four (4) City Council Members.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution No.7249, A Resolution To Provide
Workers' Compensation Coverage For The Shakopee City Council Elected Officials.
Adopted in the adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota held this 20 day of November, 2012.
