Subject: Acceptance of TORO Giving Program Product Donation,
Resolution No. 7149
INTRODUCTION
Attached is resolution No. 7149, a resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota,
accepting a TORO Giving Program Product Donation (TORO Workman MDE Utility
Vehicle- see picture below) from The TORO Company.
RELATIONSHIP TO VISIONING:
This supports Goal D — "Maintain, improve, and create strong partnerships with other
public and private sector entities ".

BACKGROUND
Early in 2011, City Parks and Recreation staff applied for a product donation of a utility
vehicle through the TORO Giving Program. The purpose of this request was to obtain a
vehicle that would assist with the facilitation and implementation of events, rentals and
festivals in Huber Park as well as for programs and special events department wide.
TORO awarded the donation request in June of 2011, but postponed delivery of the
donation until a later date due to product availability. In late November, TORO had the
product available and proceeded with delivery of a Workman MDE. This model is
electric, quiet and has a utility box. It is valued at approximately $10,000.
REQUESTED ACTION
If City Council concurs, it should, by motion offer Resolution No. 7149, a resolution of the
City of Shakopee, Minnesota, accepting a donation from the Toro Company, and move
its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 7149
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
ACCEPTING A DONATION OF A UTILITY VEHICLE FROM
THE TORO COMPANY
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and
donations by the City; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No 5794 specifies that donations of real property
shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two- thirds
majority of the Council for acceptance; and
WHEREAS, the TORO COMPANY has generously donated a Workman
MDE utility vehicle by way of their Giving Program to support the City of
Shakopee's Park and Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, such a donation will help improve facilitation and
implementation of community events, rentals, programs and enhance the overall
opportunities and quality of life in Shakopee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the donation of product from THE
TORO COMPANY is gratefully accepted; and
FURTHER, the product shall be used in the City of Shakopee's Parks and
Recreation Department, which is consistent with the wishes of the donor.
FURTHER, the City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor,
acknowledging receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City
Council.
