off - setting the costs associated with drug prevention presentations in the Shakopee

BACKGROUND:
The Meth Task Force has been committed to educating our youth in areas of drug abuse
and prevention. The Meth Task Force continues to provide students with anti -
methamphetamine and anti - gateway drug information through presentations of CLIMB

is approximately $9,000. The $1,500 from the police department's drug forfeiture fund
would go to off -set some of those costs. City Council authorized the same contribution in
both 2009 and 2010.
The Meth Task Force has surveyed teachers after these presentations. The most recent
results show that 97% of teachers found this program to be of value to the students. The
Shakopee Police Department also feels that there is value in these presentations, and we
believe they are making a difference.
