INTRODUCTION:
The City Council is asked to authorize the hiring of Alexander Dauphin, Bradley Purrington, and
Bradley Stene as paid -on -call firefighters.
BACKGROUND:
The 2011 budget includes funding for a total of 46 paid -on -call firefighters. The Department
currently has five vacancies and is requesting authorization to fill three of these positions at this
time. The three individuals named above have successfully completed an oral interview,
physical agility testing, a background check and a pre - employment psychological evaluation.
With Council approval, we will extend a conditional offer of employment and then have them
complete a pre - employment physical and drug test.
RELATIONSHIP TO GOALS:
This agenda item relates to Goal E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of
well- trained, caring and professional employees.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Alexander Dauphin, Bradley Purrington, and Bradley Stene be hired as paid -
on -call firefighters, at a wage of $10.00 per hour and subject to a two -year probationary period.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If the Council concurs, it should offer a motion to hire Alexander Dauphin, Bradley Purrington,
and Bradley Stene as part-time, paid -on -call firefighters, subject to successful completion of the
required pre - employment physical and drug test.
