CITY OF SHAKOPEE CONSENT Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Jeff Weyandt, Assistant City Engineer SUBJECT: Ordering Preliminary Engineering Report for CSAH 69 Improvements DATE: July 5, 2011 INTRODUCTION: Attached is Resolution No. 7109, which orders a preliminary engineering report to be prepared to analyze the extension of sanitary sewer and water service on CSAH 69 between Scott Street and Apgar Street. BACKGROUND: In 2012 Scott County will be reconstructing CSAH 69. There are a number of properties between Scott Street and Apgar Street without municipal sanitary sewer or water service. This report will determine an estimated project cost and estimated assessments to complete this work as part of the CSAH 69 Improvements. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 7109. 2. Deny Resolution No. 7109. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No. 1 so that the proposed utility improvements preliminary engineering report can be initiated for possible construction. ACTION REQUESTED: 1. Offer Resolution No. 7109, A Resolution Ordering a Preliminary Engineering Report for the CSAH 69 Utility Improvements and move its adoption. 'I i Jeff Weyandt, P.E. Assistant City Engineer ENGR/2011- PROJECTS /CSAH69- UTILITY -IMPRO VEMENTS/WORD /- MEM7109 -- ORDER - REPORT RESOLUTION NO. 7109 A Resolution Ordering The Preparation Of A Report On An Improvement To The CSAH 69 Utility Improvements WHEREAS, it is proposed to extend municipal sanitary sewer and water service to properties adjacent to CSAH 69, between Scott Street and Apgar Street, and to assess the benefitted property for all or a portion of the cost of the improvement, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 429. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the proposed improvement be referred to Bruce Loney, Public Works Director, for study and that he is instructed to report to the Council with all convenient speed advising the Council in a preliminary way as to whether the proposed improvement is feasible and as to whether it should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other improvement, and the estimated cost of the improvement as recommended.
