City Council is asked to consider the application of Raceway Park Inc. dba Raceway Park
for an on sale liquor license.

John Hellendrung, of Raceway Park Inc. dba Raceway Park has made application for an
on sale liquor license at One Checkered Flag Boulevard. The application is in order and
the evidence of insurance is in order. The Police Department has conducted the
background investigation. The investigation has produced nothing that would prohibit
the issuance of the license.
The governor has signed into law a new bill that allows a city to issue an on -sale
intoxicating liquor license to an auto racing facility located in the city. On June 7th
Council adopted Ordinance No. 846 amending City Code Section 5.30 to include auto
racing facilities.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the application and grant an on sale liquor license for all days of the week to
Raceway Park Inc. dba Raceway Park, One Checkered Flag Boulevard, conditioned upon
compliance with all licensing requirements of the City Code, effective July 1, 2011.

John Hellendrung has owned and operated Raceway Park, Inc since 1996
John also owns the Real Estate under JCH Properties of MN LLC.
Security at all gates including pit entrance and General Admission gates
Sales area limited to courtyard area, bleachers, party deck and VIP Suite
Offer same options and competing venues, Canterbury Park, Elko
Speedway. Attract more private outings offering expanded food and
beverage options. Many people don't drink beer.
Largest advertisers in Entertainment venues and stadiums are Liquor, Beer,
and Auto companies
Expanded marketing opportunities with local distributors. Phillips, Micro
brews, Summit and others
Corporate outings and general ticket sales continue to be cut back with tight
budgets.
Operating expenses continue to rise, taxes, payroll, advertising.
Trained experienced staff at service areas
30 -35 total events for the season. Will not compete with other License
holders
