SUBJECT: PC Replacements

Introduction
The Council is asked to authorize the purchase of 36 computers at a total cost of $35,380.
Background
The City currently has 36 computers that are up for replacement this year according to
our PC replacement plan; two of which are laptops.
In recent years, we have slowed down our regular 4 year PC replacement schedule to
accommodate tight budgets. Because of this our PCs are no longer meeting hardware
requirements. With the new IT fund, we have put the 4 year replacement plan back in
place. This will allow us to stay current with new software applications, software updates
and windows operating systems.
Budget Impact
The cost of the PC replacement, including tax and shipping, is $35,380. These funds will
be taken from the adopted 2011 IT fund.
Action
The Council is asked to authorize appropriate City staff to purchase 34 desktop
computers from TigerDirect and 2 laptops from Dell for an amount not to exceed
$35,380.
