SUBJECT: Completion of Probationary Period — Community Service Officer Tom Sheveland
DATE: April 27, 2011
Introduction
The City Council is asked to recognize Tom Sheveland's successful completion of the six -month
probationary period required of Civil Service employees and grant him full -time, regular status
as a Community Service Officer (CSO) with the Shakopee Police Department.
Background
Tom Sheveland began work as a CSO on November 8, 2010. On May 8 he will have
successfully completed the required six -month probationary period. Chief Tate is recommending
that he be granted full -time, regular status.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Council recognize Mr. Sheveland's successful completion of the six -
month probationary period for Civil Service employees and grant him full -time, regular status as
a Community Service Officer with the Shakopee Police Department.
Requested Action
If it concurs, the Council should offer a motion to grant Tom Sheveland full -time, regular status
as a Community Service Officer.
