INTRODUCTION:
Attached is an extension agreement from WSB & Associates, Inc. to provide construction
services for the CSAH 101 Improvements. The agreement is to provide construction
staking for the City and Shakopee Public Utilities facilities and to provide construction
observation services as needed. The City and Shakopee Public Utilities will share these
costs.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Approve the extension agreement with WSB & Associates, Inc. to provide
construction services for the CSAH 101 Improvements.
2. Do not approve the extension agreement with WSB & Associates, Inc. to provide
construction services for the CSAH 101 Improvements.
3. Table for additional information.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Alternative No. 1, as the utilities must be staked to avoid delay claims
from the contractor.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve the extension agreement with WSB & Associates, Inc. to provide construction
services for the CSAH 101 Improvements.

Re: Extension. Agreement to Provide Construction Surveying Services
C.S.A.H. 101 Reconstruction Project
Dear Mr. Weyandt:
According to our Agreement for Professional Services within the City of Shakopee and Section
1 -C -2 (Major Projects), this extension agreement is written to provide for construction surveying
and as -built surveying services for the above - referenced project.
It is our understanding that our scope of services is as follows:
• Provide staking as needed for the sanitary sewer improvements
• Provide staking as needed for the watermain improvements
• Provide staking as needed for the Market Street storm sewer improvements
• Provide as -built survey data for structures
• Prepare record drawings in accordance with City Standards
• Provide Construction Observer as needed
WSB will provide line and grade stakes for the }tility improvements as required for this project.
Copies of the cut - sheets will also be provided to the contractor and the inspector as needed.
WSB will provide the construction staking required for this project on an hourly basis in
accordance with our fee schedule, with a 2- person survey crew rate of $140.00 per hour. The
total costs for the construction staking services are estimated to be in the $7,500 to $9,000.00
range. Final cost will depend on the actual needs of the contractor. This includes all costs,
including mileage, hubs, and lathe.
WSB will also provide an on -call Construction Observer at an hourly rate of $86/hour.
WSB will also provide the as -built survey data for all improvements and prepare the record
drawings in accordance with City Standards for a not -to- exceed fee of $8,000.00.
It is our understanding that construction will begin on April 18, 2011. We will be available, as
needed, through the duration of the project.
