Police Department
Memorandum
The Police Depaituent is requesting Council approval to spend $23,691.84 allocated in
the police department budget for the purchase of four L3 camera systems.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department is requesting authorization to purchase four L3 squad car camera
systems. The police department started deploying these camera systems in squad cars in
2009 and they have proved to be an invaluable resource. Recently the police department
secured grant funding to increase the number of squad cars equipped with camera
systems. Currently four squads do not have camera systems and money was dedicated in
the 2011 police budget to complete the effort of deploying cameras in all department
squads.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The police department is requesting council approval to spend $23,691.84 allocated in the
police department budget for this project.

RECOMMENDATION:
Alternative #1. Staff recommends approval of the purchase.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If the Council concurs, they should, by motion, authorize the appropriate city staff to
spend $23,691.84 allocated in the police department budget for the purchase of four L3
camera systems.
