SUBJECT: Shakopee Lions Club Temporary Beer Licenses

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND:
The Shakopee Lions Club has made application for temporary on-sale 3.2 percent malt liquor
licenses for a softball tournament at Tahpah Park on June 1-3, 2011.
The applications and evidence of insurance are in order.
The Lions Club is requesting authorization to sell beer on Friday and Saturday nights until 10:00
p.m. and until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The 10:00 p.m. hour is consistent with previous licenses
issued to the Lions Club at Tahpah Park.
The Lions Club is applying for two licenses. One site will be located within the fenced in beer
garden area by the pavilion/concession stand and the second site will be within the fenced in bcer
garden area between ball fields 6 and 7. Sales at the second site would be on Saturday only. The
Lions Club has agreed to have two police officers on site on Saturday, June 2nd from noon until
6:00 p.m.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Move to approve the applications and grant a temporary on-sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license to
the Shakopee Lions Club, for the designated, fenced beer garden adjacent to the concession stand
at Tahpah Park, on June 1 from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., on June 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and
on June 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and, also grant a license for the designated, fenced beer
garden between field No. 6 and 7 at Tahpah Park, on June 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.,
conditioned upon the Lions Club staffing two police officers on June 2 from noon until 6:00 p.m.
