SUBJECT: Resolution of Appreciation for Sgt. Bob Forberg

Introduction
The City Council is asked to adopt the attached Resolution of Appreciation for Sergeant Bob
Forberg, who is retiring May 20 after 22 years of service to the City.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7193, a resolution of appreciation for Sergeant
Robert`Bob" Forberg, and move its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 7193
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO
SERGEANT ROBERT"BOB" FORBERG
WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Forberg began his law enforcement career with the New Ulm,
Minnesota, Police Department in May of 1987;and
WHEREAS, on November 11, 1990, Bob was hired as a patrol officer with the Shakopee Police
Department; and was subsequently appointed to the position of Detective by Chief Tom Steininger on
January 3, 1994; and promoted to the position of Sergeant by Chief Dan Hughes on August 18, 1998;
and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as a Sergeant, Bob has held assignments overseeing Support
Services, Investigations and Patrol, and coordinated many different programs for the Shakopee Police
Department, including Crime Prevention, Neighborhood Watch, Emergency Management, and Special
Events;and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Forberg has demonstrated great skill as an interviewer and investigator,
resulting in a Meritorious Service Award on January 20, 2009;and
WHEREAS, one of Sergeant Forberg's principle assignments was managing the department's
schedule, which was done with a watchful eye toward the department's budget while still balancing
the need for police coverage with the impact of schedule changes on the lives and families of individual
officers;and
WHEREAS, throughout Sergeant Forberg's 22 years of dedicated service to the City of
Shakopee, he has exemplified the Department's mission statement—"to provide services with integrity
and professionalism,to protect citizens through the enforcement of the law, and to work in partnership
with our community to enhance the quality of life in the City of Shakopee"; and
WHEREAS,Sergeant Forberg has submitted his resignation for the reason of retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, that it hereby accepts, with great regret, the resignation of Sergeant Bob Forberg from
the Shakopee Police Department, effective May 20, 2012; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, expresses their deep appreciation for the contributions of Sergeant Forberg to the City of
Shakopee, and extends to him their best wishes for every happiness and success in his future
endeavors.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota,
held this 15`h day of May, 2012.
