Background: The position of Human Resources Technician is currently vacant due to the resignation of Jessica Nikunen in early April. The position was advertised, a large of number of applications were reviewed and 8 candidates were interviewed. Recommendation Based on the interview results and reference checks, staff recommends hiring Karen Friary for the position of Human Resources Technician; contingent upon successful completion of a background check and pre-employment physicaUdrug-test. It is recommended that her starting wage be Step D of Grade 6 of the 2012 Non-Union Pay Plan($27.07 per hr.), and that a starting balance of 40 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick leave be awarded. . � Relationship to Vision This agenda item relates to Goa1 E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well-trained, caring and professional employees. Action Requested If the Council concurs, it is asked to authorize the hiring of Karen Friary for the position of Human Resources Technician, at Step D of Grade 6 of the 2012 Non-Union Pay Plan, subject to successful completion of the required pre-employment screenings, and to award a starting balance of 40 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick leave. - � '�. � . .3 . Recommendation Final reference checks are being conducted on the top candidate from the interview process. This will be completed prior to Tuesday evening's meeting and staff anticipates having a memo on the table seeking authorization to hire the recommended candidate.
