SUBJECT: Use of Drug Forfeiture Funds to Purchase Interactive Whiteboard

INTRODUCTION:
The Police Department is requesting Council approval to use Drug Forfeiture Funds to
purchase an interactive digital whiteboard.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department is requesting authorization to use Drug Forfeiture Funds to
purchase a Sharp Interactive Whiteboard for the Police Department Training
Room/Emergency Operations Center from Crabtree Companies. The technology will
display and allow interactive use of any software program on the city's network.
Additionally the technology is linked to networked hardware, allowing users to digitize
hard copy files for interactive use. A new capability added to the training room/EOC
with this technology is video conferencing. The interactive whiteboard wi11 expand the
fiznctionality of the Training RoomBOC.
Crabtree Companies pricing for the Sharp Interactive Whiteboard is a governxnent
contract price.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The purchase and set up cost of the interactive whiteboard is approximately $7,685.00.
Funas exist in the department's Drug Forfeiture account to support this purchase.

ACTION REOUESTED:
If the Couneil concurs, they shouid, by motion, authorize the appropriate city staff to use
approximately $7,685.00 of Drug Forfeiture Funds to purchase a Sharp Interac�ive
Whiteboard from Crabtree Companies.
