MEMORANDUM ACTION SOUGHT: In this memo, it is recommended that the City Council take the following action: 1. Pass a motion to approve the application and grant a temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license to the Shakopee Jaycees, Inc. for the fenced in beer garden (Tent A — near Stage area) at Huber Park, on Friday, August 3, 2012, from 5:00 pm to midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 am, and on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 11:00 am to midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 am; and 2. Pass a motion to approve the application and grant a temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license to the Shakopee Jaycees, Inc. for the fenced in beer garden (Tent B — near Taste of Shakopee area) at Huber Park, on Thursday, August 2, 2012, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 11:30 pm, and on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 11:00 am to midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 am. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND: Shakopee Jaycees Inc. has made application for temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor licenses for Derby Days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 2, 3, 4, 2012. As was done last year, the Jaycees have applied for a license to sell beer from two locations within Huber Park: Tent A — near Stage area Thursday, August 2nd Closed Friday, August 3rd 5:00 pm to midnight Saturday, August 4 11:00 am to midnight Tent B — near Taste of Shakopee area Thursday, August 2nd 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm Friday, August 3rd Closed Saturday, August 4 11:00 am to midnight The applications are in order and the certificate of insurance is in order. Chief Tate has been contacted regarding the applications. He advised that the Police Department has no objections to the granting of the licenses. RELATIONSHIP TO VISIONING: This supports Goal F Housekeeping. ACTION REQUIRED: 1.
