S\f. tf~i TO: Mayor & City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Dale Gade, Graduate Engineer SUBJECT: Parking Control Signage on Fuller Street, from 1 st A venue to Levee Drive DATE: November 30, 2006 INTRODUCTION: This item is for Council authorization for the placement of parking control regulatory SIgns. The installation of any regulatory sign for traffic or parking control must. be approved by City Council, per City ordinance. BACKGROUND: The placement of regulatory traffic control signs is regulated by ordinance and the City Council must authorize any changes, as per Chapter 7, Section 7.03 of the City Code. Northridge Court Apartment complex has requested "No Parking" signage be installed along Fuller Street from 1 st A venue to Levee Drive on both sides. Figure 1 displays the current conditions along Fuller Street. Figure 1. Current Conditions Due to the lack of shoulders and multiple turning movements in · the area it is recommended that "No Parking" signage be. installed along both sides of Fuller Street from 15t A venue to Levee Drive. This will facilitate a clear zone and allow maximum sight distance for motorists entering and exiting the apartment complex. ALTERNATIVES: l. Approve a motion to restrict parking on both sides of Fuller Street, from 15t A venue to Levee Drive, and direct staff to implement the necessary signage to restrict parking. 2. Do not approve a motion to restrict parking on Fuller Street. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No.1, to install "No Parking" signage on Fuller Street, from 15t A venue to Levee Drive.
