City Leading Roadway Improvement Project

County Highway (CH) 17, otherwise known as Marschall Road, is a
vital roadway to the City of Shakopee and Scott County. The City and
S HAKOPEE County have been working together to preserve and expand this corridor
to accommodate the growing demands that are placed upon it. Several
,, previous studies have identified safety and operational issues at the CH
17 /Vierling Drive and CH 17 /US 169 North Ramp intersections. As a major
Se
0 commercial center within the City of Shakopee, the ability to move easily
and safely through this area is important for
both local and regional traffic.
The City was recently awarded approximately $1 million in federal Highway
Safety Improvement Program funds that, along with other City and County
funds, will be used to construct improvements at these intersections to
address existing safety and congestion issues. Improvements will likely
include constructing additional turn lanes and updating the traffic signal
systems. The project is scheduled to be constructed in 2014.
Goals for this Project
The goals of this project include:
1. Understand the existing problem and need for improvement. A map
