Introduction:
The Shakopee Police Department is seeking council approval to declare property as surplus.
Background:
The Shakopee Police Department is requesting that the attached property list be declared surplus. The
property has been in possession of the police department for several months and ownership cannot be
determined. The property was placed on the city website for over 10 days to attempt to obtain owner
information, per City Code Section 2.70, subd. 2 (c). Bikes will be auctioned at Wheelies.

Alternatives:
1. Authorize staff to declare the items as surplus.
2. Do not authorize.
Recommendation:
Department recommends alternative 1.
Action Requested:
If Council concurs, they should, by motion, declare as surplus property those items listed in the April 17,
2012 memo from Elizabeth Carlson, Police Evidence Technician and Corey Schneck, Police Detective.
