Authorization to Hire Human Resources Technician 5 ,A. 1, CITY OF SHAKOPEE NSENT Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrator SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire HR Technician DATE: June 1, 2012 Introduction The City Council is asked to authorize hiring Alissa Frey for the position of Human Resources Technician. Background: At its May 15 meeting, the Council authorized the hiring of a candidate for the position of Human Resources Technician. Unfortunately, that candidate changed her mind a few days later and opted not to accept the position. Staff reviewed the applicant pool a second time and has identified another well - qualified candidate for the position. Recommendation I recommend the hiring of Alissa Frey for the position of Human Resources Technician; contingent upon successful completion of a background check and pre- employment physical /drug -test. Ms. Frey holds a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources and has three years of experience in the field of payroll and benefits administration. It is recommended that her starting wage be Step F of Grade 6 of the 2012 Non -Union Pay Plan ($24.61 per hr.). Relationship to Vision This agenda item relates to Goal E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well- trained, caring and professional employees. Action Requested If the Council concurs, it is asked to authorize the hiring of Alissa Frey for the position of Human Resources Technician, at Step F of Grade 6 of the 2012 Non -Union Pay Plan, subject to successful completion of the required pre - employment screenings.
