Consideration of Waiving Building Permit Fees for Park Buildings CITY OF SHAKOPEE lS.fl,~, MEMORANDUM To: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator From: Mark Themig, Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Director Meeting Date: September 19. 2006 Subject: Consideration of Waiving Building Permit Fees for Park Buildings INTRODUCTION City Council is asked to consider waiving building permit fees for the current park buildings under construction or being considered. DISCUSSION City Council has discussed building permit fees for City projects in the past, and decided to handle each project on a case-by-case basis. The following is a summary of recent building activity and fees: Facility Fees Joe Schleper Stadium Waived Library Paid Police Department Paid Public Works Paid Greenfield Park Structure Paid by Contractor Countryside Park Structures Paid by Contractor City Council is being asked to consider waiving the building permit and plan review fees for the three current park buildings (Huber, 17th Avenue Sports Complex, and Aquatic Park). The estimated fees are as follows: Huber Park $9.845 Aquatic Park Building $3,250* 17th Avenue Sports Complex $3,250* *These two buildings fall under the City's new fee schedule as "institutional" buildings. and the amounts are estimates. The City would continue to pay the State Surcharge, SPUC Water Access Fee, Met Council Sewer Access Fee, and SPUC Truck Water Charge (if applicable) for these buildings. In discussing this request with Michael Leek, it appears that Mr. Leek supports the request as it is mainly moving money from one fund to anther. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP F.
