SUBJECT: Amendments to 2004 Fee Schedule

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND:
Attached, for Council consideration, is Ordinance No. 699, Fourth Series.
Ordinance No. 699 incorporates a number of changes to the fee schedule that have been
requested by Council and/or recommended by staff.
Ordinance No. 699:
1. Sets the sewer service charges for properties using the Savage sewer interconnects
2. Sets the annual fee for outdoor seating for on-sale intoxicating liquor licenses
3. Changes the building permit fee for re-roofing residential buildings
4. Establishes a fee for the retrieval of confiscated, illegal signs (See attached memo
Mr. Leek, Community Development Director)
5. Establishes a fee for the rental of the training/community room at the police
department
6. Establishes a community center membership fee for senior couples
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Offer Ordinance No. 699, fourth Series, An ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 692,
Fourth Series, An Ordinance Setting Fees for City Licenses, Permits, Services and Documents,
and move its adoption.

SUBJECT: Fee for picking up confiscated, illegal signs
DATE: April 6, 2004
INTRODUCTION:
Staff proposes the institution of a fee to retrieve illegal signs that have been confiscated by the
City. The fee is proposed to be $45.00, and is based on an estimate ofthe average staff time
involved in collecting and processing such signs. The proposed fee is included in draft
Ordinance No. 699, prepared by City Clerk, Judy Cox.

ORDINANCE NO. 699, FOURTH SERIES
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 692, FOURTH SERIES
AN ORDINANCE SETTING FEES FOR CITY LICENSES,
PERMITS, SERVICES AND DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a Fee Schedule for the fiscal year 2004; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that adjustments to those fees are
reasonable and appropriate.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS:
Section 1. The 2004 Fee Schedule, adopted by Ordinance No. 692, is hereby amended as
follows:
ADMINISTRA TIVE/FINANCE
Sewer Service Charges hereby set as follows:
1] Monthly service charge $6.00
2] For every 1,000 gallons or part thereof of metered
flow or water usage a. Properties using the Savage $2.90
sewer interconnects
b. All other properties $1.60
3] Charge for unmetered residential water accounts or $14.00
new accounts

Annual fee for On Sale Liquor License:
Outdoor seating additional fee shall be computed at one-third of whatever the
fee would be for the additional square footage of customer used floor area
for the outdoor seating.

Section 3, Posting and Filing. A copy of this ordinance is filed with the office of the City Clerk
and a copy is provided to the Shakopee Library for posting and filing, at which locations a copy
is available for inspection by any person during regular office hours.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall publish the title of this ordinance andthe official summary in the
official newspaper with notice that a printed copy of the ordinance is ayailable for inspection by
any person during regular office hours at the office ofthe City Clerk and Shakopee Library.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance becomes effective from and after its passage and
publication.
