E. 1, CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrator SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire IT Specialist DATE: September 20, 2011 INTRODUCTION: The City Council is asked to authorize the hiring of Rachel Romansky for the position of IT Specialist. BACKGROUND: Staff has completed the interview and reference check processes for the position of IT Specialist and is recommending Rachel Romansky for hire. Ms. Romansky has three and a half years of IT experience with Health Partners and previously worked for Hennepin County. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP: This agenda item relates to Goal E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well- trained, caring and professional employees. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Rachel Romansky be hired at Step F of Grade 6 ($50,192 per year) of the City's 2011 Non -Union Pay Plan, contingent upon successful completion of a pre - employment physical /drug test and background check, and subject to the customary one -year probationary period. ACTION REQUESTED: If the Council concurs, it should offer a motion to authorize hiring Rachel Romansky for the position of IT Specialist at Step F of Grade 6 of the City's 2011 Non -Union Pay Plan, contingent upon successful completion of a pre - employment physical /drug -test and background check. E , it CITY OF SHAKOP E Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator r:, FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrator SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire IT Specialist DATE: September 15, 2011 INTRODUCTION: At Tuesday night's meeting, the City Council will be asked to authorize the hiring of a new IT Specialist. BACKGROUND: With the resignation of former IT Coordinator Carrie Duckett, and the promotion of Raoul Boudreau from IT Specialist to IT Coordinator, the City's IT Specialist position is currently vacant. The position was advertised and approximately 85 applications were received. Staff completed first -round interviews with 12 candidates and has narrowed the field to 3 candidates for second -round interviews, which will take place Friday, September 16. Once the second -round interviews are completed on Friday, staff will check references and prepare a recommendation to be brought to the City Council on Tuesday evening.
