SUBJECT: Resolution of Appreciation for Therese Scherer Romsdahl

Introduction
The City Council is asked to adopt the attached Resolution of Appreciation for Therese Scherer
Romsdahl, who is departing her position as Police Record Supervisor on July 29 after more than
30 years of service to the City.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7111, a resolution of appreciation for Therese
Scherer Romsdahl, and move its adoption.
RESOLUTION NO. 7111
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
TO THERESE SCHERER ROMSDAHL
WHEREAS, Therese Scherer Romsdahl began her employment with the City of Shakopee on
January 21, 1981, as a Police Clerk, and has subsequently served the Police Department in the positions of
Clerk Typist II, Records Technician, Records Specialist, and Department Secretary; and,
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2007, Teri was promoted to the newly created position of Police Records
Supervisor, and,
WHEREAS, in 30 years and 6 months of employment with the City of Shakopee, Teri provided
essential support to the Shakopee Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, Teri's management skills ensured that police reports and data were processed and
disseminated accurately and timely in order to meet the legal requirements of the Criminal Justice System;
and,
WHEREAS, Teri exhibited the leadership skills to advocate and promote professionalism in the
records unit and to build, enhance, and maintain the skills of staff assigned to her; and,
WHEREAS, Teri ensured the Shakopee Police Department provided accurate and reliable local
statistics used in the FBI's Uniform Crime Report of indexed crimes; and,
WHEREAS, Teri's valuable knowledge of the Minnesota Data Practices Act has been essential to
the timely and accurate processing of requests for public, non - public and private information and data; and,
WHEREAS, Teri's technical knowledge of specialized law enforcement applications has been
critical in the daily operations as well as the great technological advances in the department's records
function and unit; and,
WHEREAS, Teri created and maintained effective partnerships and relationships with internal and
external stakeholders at local, state and federal levels; and,
WHEREAS, Teri's loyalty, dedication, pride and love for the City of Shakopee and the Police
Department are chronicled in the many photographs and documents that she created during her years of
faithful service to the community; and,
WHEREAS, Teri will leave her position with the City effective July 29, 2011.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that it does hereby express its deep appreciation to Therese Scherer Romsdahl
for more than thirty years of dedicated service to the City of Shakopee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council extends its best wishes for every
happiness and success to Teri in her future endeavors.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, held
this twenty -sixth day of July, 2011.
