OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA Regular Session November 23, 2010 Members Present: President Pat Heitzman, Commissioners Pamela Punt, Steve Clay and John Schmitt. Absent was Matt Lehman. Staff Members Present: Mark McNeill, City Administrator; R. Michael Leek, Community Development Director; Bruce Loney, Public Works /Engineering Director; and Judith S. Cox, City Clerk 1. Roll Call President Heitzman called the meeting to order at 7:12 P.M. and roll was noted as above. 2. Approval of the Agenda Schmitt/Clay moved to approve the agenda. Motion carried 4 -0. 3. Consent Items Schmitt /Punt moved to approve the Consent items. Motion carried 4 -0. a. Minutes from October 19, 2010. 4. EDAC Recommendations Regarding Downtown/First Avenue Corridor. Michael Leek, Community Development Director, presented the EDA with the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) recommendations which included geographical definition, entrances and connectivity, and marketing. Mr. Leek said the recommendations are as follows: That the geographical definition of the Downtown/First Avenue corridor be expanded to include and/or consider CR101 to the City's eastern boundary; that the Marschall Road corridor from CR 101 to CR 16 be considered and addressed separately. CR 69 Corridors would include the area west of the 101 bridge to the current US 169 /CR 69 intersection. Work with the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Partnership, downtown and first avenue businesses, and others to develop joint marketing efforts that will increase visitors to the entire corridor. Also to consider developing a plan to enhance the CR 101 corridor east of Marschall Road, with the intent of enticing visitors to existing attractions and business to visit future attractions and business in the corridor. Cox EDA Secretary Schmitt/Punt moved to accept the recommendations of the Economic Development Advisory Committee as presented and directed the EDA and city staff to proceed with implementation based on the recommendations contained herein. Motion carried 4 -0. 5 Adjourn. Punt /Clay moved to adjourn to Monday, December 20, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. Motion carried 4 -0. The meeting adjourned at 7:22 P.M. Kim Weckman Recording Secretary
