BACKGROUND: A Quote was approved on October 19, 2010 to Final Grade Inc. in the amount of $42,298.50. Attached is a final pay estimate for the Upper Valley Drainageway Stabilization by Sarazin Street project. Additional project costs were needed to build the retaining walls to the correct height that what was on the plans. The City is paying for only the additional quantity of block wall needed to correctly build the wall to the right height for safety slopes against the adjacent bike trail. Additional costs due to design error will be paid for by the consultant, WSB & Associates, Inc. The final cost estimate is $47,562.50 as compared to original quote of $42,298.50. The City's final cost is $45,658.50 with WSB paying for $1,904.00. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Approve a motion approving the change order and final pay estimate in the amount of $47,562.50 for the Upper Valley Drainageway Stabilization at Sarazin Street project. 2. Approve a motion accepting $1,904.00 from WSB & Associates, Inc. as a reimbursement of costs for the Upper Valley Drainageway Stabilization Project. 3. Do not approve the change order for this project. 4. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternatives No. 1 and No. 2. ACTION REQUESTED: 1. Approve a motion approving the change order and final pay estimate in the amount of $47,562.50 for the Upper Valley Drainageway Stabilization at Sarazin Street project. 2. Approve a motion accepting $1,904.00 from WSB & Associates, Inc. as a reimbursement of costs for the Upper Valley Drainageway Stabilization Project.
