SUBJECT: Authorization to Purchase Additional Storage for City IT Network

Introduction
The Council is asked to authorize the purchase of additional storage for the City's IT
network at a total cost of $23,816.
Background
The City's existing Storage Area Network (SAN) currently has 6.2 terabytes of storage,
which is shared across all seven City departments. With each passing year our storage
requirements grow at a faster pace. We are currently down to 1.2 terabytes of available
space. There are remaining funds in the adopted IT budget for 2010 which staff is
seeking authorization to use for the purchase of 6.6 additional terabytes of storage.
Budget Impact
The cost of the additional 6 terabytes of storage, including tax and shipping, is
$25,453.35. These funds will be taken from the adopted 2010 IT budget.
Relationship to Vision
This is a housekeeping item, requiring Council approval only because of the cost of the
purchase_
Requested Action
The Council is asked to authorize appropriate City staff to purchase 6.6 terabytes of
storage for the City's SAN from Xiotech, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $25,453.35.
