Proposed Special Workshop DateCITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Proposed Special Workshop Date DATE: September 29, 2010 INTRODUCTION: F. g 4 The Council is asked to establish a workshop date to discuss design components of CSAH :101 and 69, and transit issues. BACKGROUND: Work has been proceeding on the design of First Avenue improvements, and has reached a point that direction should be given by the City Council concerning corridor design alternatives (lighting, concrete boulevards, bollards, and others). The City Council will need to review the proposed construction schedule, which at this point is anticipated to take place entirely in 2011. The County would also like to discuss CSAH 69 updates. There is also a desire to have discussion on that workshop agenda to discuss transit issues, including the use of Southwest Transit buses; and whether to apply for three additional buses. It is estimated that the time for the CSAH discussion would be approximately 90 minutes; 30 to 45 minutes would be needed for transit discussion. PROPOSED DATES: Normally, we try to schedule workshop meetings on Tuesdays, but given the fact that a community information meeting for the proposed Community Center improvements has been scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, October 12~', our recommendation is for a workshop meeting to be held on Monday, October 11~', at 7:00 p.m. RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that a workshop meeting be called for 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 1 l~', in the City Council Chambers. RELATIONSHIP TO VISIONING: This supports Goal B "Positively manage the challenges and opportunities presented by growth, development and change." ACTION REQUIRED: If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, call for a special workshop to be held Monday, October 11, 2010, at 7:00 p.m, in the City Council Chambers, to discuss improvements to CSAH 101, CR 69, and transit issues. ~~~ ~ Mark McNeill City Administrator CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Proposed Special Workshop Date DATE: September 29, 2010 INTRODUCTION: The Council is asked to establish a workshop date to discuss design components of CSAH 101 and 69, and transit issues.
