City of Shakopee MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrator ~,,~ SUBJECT: Resolutions of Appreciation for Retiring Firefighters DATE: September 29, 2010 ~~~~~, ~~~~ Introduction The Council is asked to adopt the attached Resolutions of Appreciation, honoring the service of recently retired firefighters Lino Baden, Al Geis and Dan Leadstrom .The Resolutions will be presented at the Fire Department's annual banquet on Oct. 9. Requested Action If it concurs, the Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7043, a resolution of appreciation for Lion D. Baden, Resolution No. 7044, a resolution of appreciation for Alan R. Geis, and Resolution No. 7045, a resolution of appreciation for Daniel L. Leadstrom. RESOLUTION NO. 7043 A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO LINO D. BADEN WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Shakopee have had the fortune of having the services of capable and dedicated firefighters available for the past 127 years; and WHEREAS, those individuals who are members of the City's Fire Department devote many hours of their time for training, practice, and responding to fires within the City and surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, Lino D. Baden was a member of the Shakopee Fire Department for 26 years; and WHEREAS, Lino diligently and unselfishly served the residents of the City of Shakopee while a member of the Shakopee Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Lino served as the both a Captain and the Department's Engineer, ensuring that all firefighters were properly trained and had the necessary equipment; and WHEREAS, Lino faithfully responded to numerous fire and emergency calls regardless of the untimeliness of said calls and personal and family disruptions; and WHEREAS, on many occasions Lino put the health, safety and welfare of Shakopee residents ahead of his own personal safety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Shakopee hereby extends its token of thanks and appreciation to Mr. Lino D. Baden for his 26 years of service to the Shakopee Fire Department and the community at large. Adopted in regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, held this 5th day of October, 2010. GEIS WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Shakopee have had the fortune of having the services of capable and dedicated firefighters available for the past 127 years; and WHEREAS, those individuals who are members of the City's Fire Department devote many hours of their time for training, practice, and responding to fires within the City and surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, Alan R. Geis was a member of the Shakopee Fire Department for 26 years; and WHEREAS, Al diligently and unselfishly served the residents of the City of Shakopee while a member of the Shakopee Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Al served as the Department's Captain and also the Assistant Chief, ensuring that all firefighters had the necessary equipment and were properly trained; and WHEREAS, Al faithfully responded to numerous fire and emergency calls regardless of the untimeliness of said calls and personal and family disruptions; and WHEREAS, on many occasions Al put the health, safety and welfare of Shakopee residents ahead of his own personal safety; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Shakopee hereby extends its token of thanks and appreciation for Mr. Alan R. LEADSTROM WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Shakopee have had the fortune of having the services of capable and dedicated firefighters available for the past 127 years; and WHEREAS, those individuals who are members of the City's Fire Department devote many hours of their time for training, practice, and responding to fires within the City and surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, Daniel L. Leadstrom was a member of the Shakopee Fire Department for 20 years; and WHEREAS, Dan diligently and unselfishly served the residents of the City of Shakopee while a member of the Shakopee Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Dan served the Department as a Captain, ensuring that all firefighters had the necessary equipment and were properly trained; and WHEREAS, Dan faithfully responded to numerous fire and emergency calls regardless of the untimeliness of said calls and personal and family disruptions; and WHEREAS, on many occasions Dan put the health, safety and welfare of Shakopee residents ahead of his own personal safety; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Shakopee hereby extends its token of thanks and appreciation for Mr. Daniel L.
