CONSENT
City staff is seeking council approval to accept four digital in-squad camera systems :From
the Minnesota Sheriff s Association.
BACKGROUND
On August 27, 2010 the Shakopee Police Department received four digital in-squad
camera systems from the Minnesota Sheriff s Association. This .equipment has proven to
be valuable in the department's enforcement efforts. The police department planned on
equipping all of its squads with this equipment and receiving these units from the
Minnesota Sheriff's Association will reduce the costs and speed up this process. The
equipment is valued at approximately $20,000.
BUDGET IMPACT
This grant requires a local match of $400.

ALTERNATIVES
1. Allow staff to accept four digital in-squad camera systems from the Minnesota
Sheriff's Association.
2. Do not accept the equipment.

Staff recommends alternative one.
ACTION REQUESTED
If Council concurs, they should make a motion to allow staff to accept four digital in-
squad video systems from the Minnesota Sheriff s Association.
