Introduction
The City Council is asked to authorize staff to advertise for the position of Maintenance Operator
and begin the hiring process.
Background
The Public Works Department has had one opening for afull-time Maintenance Operator since
the resignation of Rodney Beck earlier this summer. Efforts to the fill the position were delayed
until the bulk of the work on the City's 2011 operating budget was complete. Now that the City
Council has adopted the preliminary levy and budget for 2011 which includes funding for this
position, staff is seeking authorization to advertise the opening and proceed with interviews. A
recommendation for hire would be brought back to the Council at a future meeting.
Relationship to Vision:
Fully staffing the Public Works Department contributes to Goal E -Deliver effective and
efficient public services with a staff ofwell-trained, caring and professional employees.
Requested Action
The Council is asked to offer a motion to authorize staff to advertise for the position of
Maintenance Operator and begin the hiring process.
