No. 7659 (A, B, C) • Action Sought Award contracts for the construction of a new ice arena and renovations to the Shakopee Community Center. Background The City Council approved the plans and specification and authorized the advertisement for bids for the new ice arena and Community Center renovations on October 20, 2015. The City Council determined that the project will be funded utilizing tax abatement bonds. The Council authorized the hiring of a Construction Manager, RJM Construction, for this project and to work with 292 Design Group to develop a number of bid packages. Discussion On December 1, 2015 the City received a total of one hundred eight bids for twenty-six bid categories. Two of the bid categories will be rebid at a later date due to cost and/or number of bids received. RJM has completed the review of the bids and have conducted a scope review with the apparent low bidders. RJM is recommending the award of contracts to the following low bidders. A letter from RJM with the recommendations is attached. In addition to the construction costs are the owner costs including SAC/TWC charges and permit fees, furniture, equipment, low voltage, security, contingency, etc. totaling $2,854,501.00. Design fees total $1,736,100.00. The total project cost is $30,416,779, this amount is listed in the Springsted report that the City Council received on November 17, 2015 and within the amount of the bonds adopted by Resolution No. 7640. Shakopee MN 55379 RE: Shakopee Ice Arena and Community Center Renovation Recommendations for Award of Contract Dear Ms. Polley, On December 1, 2015 bids were received at the City of Shakopee for Shakopee Ice Arena and Community Center Renovation project. A total of one hundred and eight (108) bids were received for twenty-six(26) bid categories. Attached is a bid summary by trade for each bid category. Bid Category 7A Waterproofing and 14A Elevator will be rebid at a future date. After reviewing the project cost with the City of Shakopee staff it has been recommended to accept alternates 2, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E,4, 5A, 5B, 7 for a total project budget of$30,416,779. RJM has completed its review of the bids and in addition to the bid review, we have also conducted a scope review with the apparent low bidder for each bid and quote category.
