SUBJECT: Temporary Liquor License — Shakopee American Legion
DATE: June 10, 2010
INTRODUCTION:
The City Council is asked to consider an application from the Shakopee American Legion for a
temporary on -sale intoxicating liquor license for July 10, 2010 for a rib cook -off contest.
BACKGROUND:
The American Legion is proposing to hold a rib cook -off contest on Saturday, July 10, 2010. There will
be a limit of 24 teams and they are proposing to have them cook outside the Club's west door.
Cooking may begin as early as 9:00 a.m. with judging at 5:00 p.m. They would like to serve alcohol to
team members throughout the event.
A 15' by 120' temporary fence will be installed along the west side of the building. Access to this area
will be through the west door of the building. The insurance company will be contacted and
requested to include the outside area on the liquor liability insurance.
The Police Department has advised that they have no issues with this activity.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Move to approve the application and grant a temporary on -sale liquor license to the Shakopee
American Legion, 1266 East 1 Avenue, for July 10, 2010, conditioned upon meeting all licensing
requirements.
