SUBJECT: Discussion of Communications Goals&Priorities for 2015 (F)
Action Sought
The Council is asked to discuss and provide direction and feedback regarding communication goals and priorities
for 2015.
Background
As part of the 2014 budget,the City Council approved making the Communications Coordinator a full-time
position. Over the past year,the Communications Division has focused on launching the new city website,as well
as strengthening its current communication tools. Such projects have included more news and feature stories,
becoming more interactive on social media and improving internal communications.
Looking ahead to 2015, staff is seeking input from the Council regarding priorities and what it would like to see
staff focus on in the coming year. In addition to hearing Council's ideas and priorities,staff is looking for feedback
on the following topics:
#1 —Use of video
#2—Community Interaction
#3—Responsiveness/Timeliness to current issues
#4—City"Branding"
#5—Any additional ideas?
Staff will have a presentation outlining the above issues in more detail at the meeting Tuesday evening.
