CITY OF SHAKO PEE
Memorandum
CON~r~r.
- . ~. ~ t M.I, I
TO: Mayor and City Council . . m . 1 f'
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Kris Wilson, Assistant City Administrato~JttJ
SUBJECT: Extension of Light Duty
DATE: March 12,2010
Introduction
The City Council is asked to authorize an additional six months of light duty assignment for
Officer Cortnie Anderson of the Police Department.
Background
The City's policy on restricted or "light-duty" work assignments requires City Council approval
for an employee to remain on light duty for more than six months. Officer Anderson was injured
during a Department training exercise in September of 2009. Based on the work restriction
reports received from her doctor, she has been on light-duty since that time.
Recommendation
Chief Tate recommends that Office Anderson's light duty status be extended for up to an
additional six months (March 23 - September 22,2010). At this time, there is sufficient work of
value to the Department for her to continue working full-time while on light duty. If her doctor
clears her to return to work with no restrictions prior to that date then her light duty assignment
will be lifted and she will return to patrol.
Requested Action
If it concurs, the Council should offer a motion to authorize continued light duty status for
Officer Cortnie Anderson not to exceed September 22, 2010.
