Ii ~ >,M "~ . , '~f' Mark McNeill, City Administrator From: Jamie Polley, Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Director Meeting Date: February 16, 2010 Subject: Surplus Property- Gymnastics and Fitness Equipment INTRODUCTION The Shakopee Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Department is seeking council approval to declare unused gymnastic and fitness equipment as surplus property. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION The Shakopee Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Department is currently storing unused gymnastics and fitness equipment in the basement of the youth building as well as in the upper part of the engineering building. The equipment stored has not been in use for a number of years. A list of the equipment that can now be disposed of is as follows: Pool Slide Mats Nordic Trek Fitness Equipment Foam and Carpet for Gymnastic Floor Two High Balance Beams Gymnastics Vault Vault Runway Carpet Large Gymnastics Mats Much of the gymnastics and fitness equipment can be sold to other entities. The funds from the sale of the equipment will be deposited into the General Fund. The equipment that is not sold will be disposed of. We are seeking council approval to dispose of the equipment by sale through eBay and/or Craigslist. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP Goal F: Housekeeping REQUESTED ACTION If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, declare the unused gymnastics and fitness items surplus property and authorize staff to appropriately dispose of these items.
