INTRODUCTION: Public Works is requesting Council accept the low quote from North Star Pump Service to re-furbish the three pumps at sanitary sewer lift station L-16 for the price of $24,579.65 BACKGROUND: In 2008 Metropolitan Waste turned over the ownership and maintenance responsibility of the main sanitary sewer lift station for the City of Shakopee, (L-16). This lift station pumps all of the sanitary waste from "Old Shakopee" to the treatment facility at Blue Lake. The normal wear of the three pumps requires basic repair or re-furbishing around every 10,000 hours of use. Staff is requesting Council to accept the low quote from North Star Pump Service to re-furbish the three pumps for the price of $24,579.65. Staff received two quotes for this project with the other quote from W.W.Goetsch Associates, Inc. for $33,330.00. As an informational item, one new pump has a purchase price of $33,631.00. AL TERNATIVES: 1. Accept the low quote from North Star Pump Service and authorize the work. 2. Deny the request. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No. 1 ACTION REOUESTED: Move to accept the low quote from North Star Pump Service and authorize staff to contract for said services for the price of $24,579.65.
