I .~r, TO: Shakopee City Council FROM: John Schmitt, Mayor SUBJECT: 2010 Liaison Appointments DATE: January 5, 2010 Comment: INTRODUCTION: The Council is asked to endorse Council Liaison appointments for 2010. BACKGROUND: In order to maintain effective communications with the various policy-making bodies that are not City-appointed boards and commissions, individual members of the City Council are typically appointed as liaison to those groups. I would like to appoint the following people as liaisons or Council officers for 2010: 2010 Liaison Appointments 1. Acting Mayor - Steve Clay 2. Shakopee Public Utilities Commission Liaison - Steve Clay 3. I.S.D. 720 School Board - Patrick Heitzman 4. Shakopee Convention and Visitors Bureau - Pamela Punt 5. Shakopee Chamber Of Commerce Board of Directors - Pamela Punt 6. Metro Cities - John Schmitt, with Mark McNeill (alternate) 7. Suburban Rate Authority - Mark McNeill & John Schmitt 8. Shakopee Downtown Partnership - Patrick Heitzman 9. Interview Committee -Pat Heitzman, Steve Clay 10. Metropolitan Council- John Schmitt, with Michael Leek (alternate) 11. Board of Review-Steve Clay & Matt Lehman 12. SCALE - John Schmitt & Mark McNeill 13. SCALE Joint Training Facility Board Representative - John Schmitt, with Mark McNeill (alternate) 14. Scott County Transit Review Board - Pamela Punt, with Michael Leek (alternate) 15. Suburban Transit Authority Board of Directors - Pamela Punt, with Michael Leek (alternate) 16. Shakopee Fire Relief Association-John Schmitt and Gregg Voxland Ad Hoc Committee Representatives 1. Railroad Safety Committee - Pat Heitzman and Matt Lehman 2. US 169 Corridor Committee a. Technical Advisory subcommittee - Michael Leek and Bruce Loney b. Board of Directors - John Schmitt; Matt Lehman (1 st Alternate); Michael Leek (2nd alternate) RECOMMENDATION: I recommend the above be appointed to the various offices/liaison posts for 2010.
